Transforming Homes and Lives in Lancaster

Meet Chris & Christine Walton

Chris and Christine Walton, originally from Bucks County, have been living in Lancaster County since 2015. Both graduates of Penn State, they met in college and got married in 2009. With backgrounds in engineering and health and fitness, Chris and Christine launched Renovation Sells Lancaster as a husband and wife team.

They have two kids and love traveling, staying active, going on beach trips, and taking on DIY projects. They actively participate in their local community by volunteering for local chapters and charity groups, always seeking opportunities to give back.

This dedication to transparency and clear communication is evident in their work, ensuring that clients are kept informed every step of the way. With a focus on maximizing returns and transforming lives, Chris and Christine's passion for what they do shines through in every project they undertake.

Renovation projects are often very personal and require a lot of communication. How do you prioritize transparency and clear communication in your work?

Chris: It’s got to be number one. You're gonna have difficult conversations, nobody wants to call a homeowner and say, for example, “Hey, there's water coming through the ceiling,” but you have to have those conversations. It's much better to have that conversation than for someone to find out three weeks down the road, and ask “Why is this delayed?”

Christine: Because we’re so transparent, everything happens so much quicker. I think our clients appreciate the fact that we were so responsive and in communication with them. It really goes into showing, not just telling, that you can be trusted and once you have that foundation of trust, they'll trust that you can handle anything and be honest throughout the process.

These projects often yield high profits at what can be stressful times in homeowners’ lives. How does this potential to make a difference play into your passion for what you do?

Chris: The profit is not just a number. It's really life transforming at a difficult time for a lot of our clients. We have all these marketing materials that show if you do this, you could really make profit when you sell, but it's hard for people to realize that.

Especially today when houses still sell really fast, if the “not perfect” house sells quickly, think of what a real nice house does: sells fast and for a lot of money. So why not try to maximize what you can get for it?

What advice would you give to a homeowner or an agent who's considering a renovation, but they're not really convinced that they'll see their return?

Chris: We see it time and time again. People are unsure about making an investment into a home they plan on leaving, but we've done big projects and little projects, and they all pay off in one way or another. Either they get the money back when they sell, or it helps them to sell when they haven't been able to in the past.

What was your background before starting Renovation Sells Lancaster?

Chris: I left my job two years ago, and when I quit we didn't have a plan. The following year we started a small business doing home improvement projects on our own. Then, we started looking into something bigger because we realized that wasn’t going to pay the bills. Through about a five or six month process of research and narrowing down, we came across Renovation Sells and it checked all the boxes for us.

Why do you love what you do?

Chris: I like how different it is from what I was doing before. I get to take my kids to school, watch them from home, coach sports; we're seeing the kids and doing things that I couldn't have done before. It's nice to know that the more we pour into the business, the more we can get on the back end. It's very empowering.

Christine: We love what we do because of the people. We get to meet different people all the time and to hear their stories and to see that transformation is so rewarding.
